fffridayHappy Friday! A couple of fandom exchanges revealed works recently, candyheartsex and rarefemslashexchange, so I thought I'd come bearing fic recs :) I'll edit in authors after creator reveals, of course!
Silver Bells and Cockleshells by LookingForDroids (Fallen London, Captivating Princess/OFC, 300, M)
A splendid bit of body-horror, full of ecstasy and terrible fascination.
denouement. (Utena, Juri/Shiori, ~500, T)
A dizzying fragment of post-canon, byzantine in its trapped and unacknowledged anguish.
Luck of the Draw by Miaou Jones (Natsume Yuujinchou, Souko/Reiko, ~1.1k, G)
Understated yet heartbreaking in the most canon-typical way, this what-could-have been imagines Souko and Reiko's chance reunion as adults. (Chihaya and Shinobu from Chihayafuru also make a small but beautifully juxtaposed cameo.)
if i loved you less by homegrown (Yellowjackets, Shauna/Jackie, ~1.2k, M)
The roiling depths of Shauna and Jackie's pre- to early-canon relationship, never quite sweet and certainly never simple, even when they kiss.
the thief and the first daughter by hiljainen (OW, Thief/Princess, 1.6k, NR - SFW)
Fairytalesque and delightfully impish: a thief attempts to burgle what she thought was an abandoned tower, only to find it less than abandoned (and the unhappy occupant quite insistent on accompanying her out of there).
trade secrets (White Collar, Diana/Sara, ~4k, T)
Casefic that recalls the best of the source material -- on an undercover investigation, Diana runs into Sara, and the party turns into a game of cat and mouse (cat and cat?)
The Revue of Repetition by wolfraven80 (Revue Starlight, Claudine/Maya, ~4.9k, G)
Time loops and Revue Starlight: an inspired pairing, deployed here to perfection to examine a hidden rocky patch in Claudine and Maya's capital-R Relationship post-canon.

This is SO GOOD. Pre-canon LanaMia, beautiful metaphors, fantastic characterization, heartbreaking little hints of foreshadowing.
